Ingredients
- Meat (Beef / Mutton / Chicken): 1 kg
- Basmati Rice: 1 kg
- Onions (medium, finely sliced): 3 pieces
- Tomatoes (medium, finely chopped): 4 pieces
- Yogurt (whisked): 250 grams
- Garlic (paste): 2 tablespoons
- Ginger (paste): 2 tablespoons
- Whole green chilies: 16 pieces
- Potatoes / Lemon juice: 3 pieces / 6 tablespoons
- Oil / Ghee: 250 grams
- Yaqub Karachi Biryani Masala: 1 packet
Steps to Make
- Fry onions in oil until golden. Add meat, tomatoes, garlic, ginger, yogurt, and Yaqub Karachi Biryani Masala and sauté well.
- Add potatoes and enough water to cook the meat until tender. Increase heat, then add green chilies and lemon juice. Cook until oil separates.
- Boil 3 liters of water with 3 tablespoons salt and add pre-soaked rice. Cook until rice is just tender and water is drained.
- In a serving pot, layer half of the rice, then the spiced meat, and top with remaining rice. Sprinkle saffron color mixed with a little milk and steam (dum) for at least 10 minutes.
- Open the lid, gently mix the rice, and serve hot with raita or salad.
